1) The trash guys are jerks… I leave them the old carpet (small room’s worth – maybe 8 x 12) out next to the trash can, just as prescribed in the handy-dandy-trash-hauling-agreement, and waited for their arrival. Just looked out the window, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a carpet, the underlayment and eight tiny reindeer, still sitting there at the end of my driveway. Other trash? Gone. Arrgh. Did I mention that they doubled the hauling fee last month, too? Anyone for spiking the trash with dog doo this time? The yard’s in need of cleaning…

2) In the Suzie Homemaker department, I’m Pergo-ing the breakfast room floor (former home of the aforementioned carpet) and found some plums & pears on a great sale yesterday, so will be doing some canning.

Update on #1 – the trash company called, and said the trash guy “couldn’t handle” the carpet b/c it was “too big for him by himself” – I’m sorry, but guess who carried the carpet from the house, out the back door, through the garage, and down the 75 foot driveway by herself? Without even pulling a muscle! And it’s too heavy for him to carry 5 feet to his truck and chuck in the back? It’s really not that heavy – I think they were just being lazy. The guy on the phone said to cut it into 4 foot pieces. Yeah right. Whatever.

I had similar trash issues where I used to live and called up to find out the same. I ended up renting a truck to go dump stuff myself… and that was “fun”…

Keep meaning to tell you how impressed I am with your home improvement stuff!!!

Ok, Be for real here: How hard is it to pergol your floor? I would LOOOOVE to rip up the carpet in our den & put down “wood” floors. I know you are super woman. Can average woman (me) do it??

We did the Pergo a few years ago. Used cheap stuff, and while it was a LOT of work, it looks fabulous.

But Trish wants to replace it all with carpeting before any kid comes.

Oh gosh Cali – the Pergo is eeeeasy. Heck, I’ll come down and help (I need to see my old Bama friends anyway.) Think high-tech Legos/Tinker Toys and you’re on the right track.

Kate – I can’t imagine putting carpet back down – I love the clean of the wood floors, low dust and allergens, all the stains wipe up so nicely. Very kid friendly, imho.

I want the carpet up for the same reason! I already have to scrub it once a month to clean up after my GM. I imagine a child will be WAY messier than her. I would rather mop than carpet spot clean any day.

& I may just fly you down here to help me Kate!!
