The Long-Heralded Arrival of the Michigan Wood

The moment you’ve all been waiting for has arrived! The countertops are in! The 20 total linear feet of rock maple butcher block countertop, delivered direct from Michigan on the backs of yaks, was ordered over 2 months ago. It arrived a few days ago, and has been installed today by yours truly and her darling Dad. They’re beautiful. I’m in love. 🙂

In other news, my spinach and radishes are coming up, although the peas and potatoes appear somewhat inert. Film at 11.

It was a glorious day, over ten hours of hard manual labor, but my kitchen is finished (only a few touchups and caulking remain) and tomorrow I vacuum the cabinets and unpack. Huzzah!

I close, and off to bed, but feel compelled to share H’s thoughts on the subject of countertops: “Well, we know all *kinds* of good things come from Michigan.”
