A year ago today, my little embryos were being created (and I was surfacing from a really nice Diprivan nap.) It’s been a wild ride, and I’d never have predicted that I’d have twin five-month-olds now, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

$16810.00

That’s the out-of-pocket cost of having IVF and a complicated pregnancy with good insurance in 2008. No NICU or delivery bills included – that’s just IVF, meds for the IVF & pregnancy, lab/ultrasound for the IVF & pregnancy, and copays for the perinatology and pediatrician visits, and the copays for babies’ at-home meds. Yeghads.
At least [...]
Sperm Anxiety
Posted in Rants, TTC on January 8, 2009 | 3 Comments »
Now really, have you ever read a blog post entitled Sperm Anxiety? I thought not. (Although some of ye IVPers may have…hard to know…but I digress.)
Because I’m a colossal sucker for punishment, I’m actually considering TTC again. Not anytime soon, mind you. I’m thinking fall 2011 at the earliest. But that means I need swimmers. I [...]
Random Observations
Posted in Piper, Pregnancy, TTC on March 16, 2008 | 3 Comments »
1) Piper likes cabbage. I dropped a few small pieces while cutting it up to make corned beef and cabbage tonight, and she snarfed them. The Hoover continues to keep her well-earned reputation.
2) Current pregnancy and/or progesterone symptoms: Veiniest boobs in North America (my vampiresque skin doesn’t help) and gastrointestinal TMI. Both starting at 9 dpo, [...]

Predictably, the little kids with their palm branches at church today got the waterworks going. Geez. I’m such a hormonal mess.
Today’s FRER seems darker than yesterday’s. Today’s Target test was really hard to photograph (cloudy a.m. light isn’t as good as sunny p.m. light) so no comparisons there.
Here’s today’s:
And yesterday’s:
I’m too afraid yet to post [...]
Afternoon Surprise

I sat down just now to thank everyone for their great responses to the last post (camaraderie is good, even if it’s a group none of us really want to belong to) and to address some of the blog topics while drinking a diet pepsi and waking up from my post-work nap. Meanwhile, in another [...]
Cloying Optimism
Posted in Rants, TTC on March 14, 2008 | 10 Comments »
I’ll post on some of the suggested topics later, but for now I need to get this off of my chest. If you feel for some reason that it applies to you, it may or may not, but it’s not intended with malice. This is just me airing my feelings in the only place that’s [...]
Peesticks, Power and Perennials

I thumbed my nose at the over-cautious IVF board types, and hardly spent any time in the recliner yesterday. I went out for Mexican with Starbuck (yummy, and good gossip,) took down a malfunctioning light fixture for my grandmother, hit Target for peesticks for later in the week and a few other necessities, bought a [...]
Freeze Report
Posted in TTC on March 11, 2008 | 7 Comments »
Nothing to freeze. The blasts & morulas from yesterday never did develop inner cell masses (the part that turns into the embryo.) So…nada there. No totsicles this go-round. I’m a bit disappointed, really, as it makes this cycle so much higher-pressure, but whatever. It is what it is.
Now it’s all on the two that were [...]
Transfer

Even now, two tiny parasites (note to self – must come up with catchy nicknames) are attempting to recover from the shock of the catheter and worm their way into my endometrium.
Off to rest (both because of transfer, and because I worked last night.) Freeze report is tomorrow, but I have three blasts, 6 morulas and [...]
