Hanging Up The Horns

I’ve pumped every work night (3 per week) since going back to work in January.  First it was three times a night (for about two weeks) then twice a night (for several months) then once a night (for the last couple of months.)
About early July the babies started regularly sleeping through the night, and [...]

Bye Bye Bottle

That’s right, we’re throwing out the bottles!  Metaphorically speaking, that is.  They’ll keep using them for feedings when I’m at work, but as of today it’s 100% breastfeeding, all the time.  When they were discharged from the NICU, I was instructed to feed two feedings per day of supplemented milk (they wanted me to use [...]

Dairy Queen

Just pumped seven ounces, immediately after feeding both kids.  I guess I am the dairy queen.  Moooooooo…
(Don’t let me start on the joys of pumping at work.  At least they’re letting me escape to the good hospital-grade pump upstairs once a shift.)

Telegraphic News

1) Doing the washing-of-new-things for twin girls results in pink dryer lint.  I think I can safely say that I’ve never before had pink dryer lint.
2) Increasing one’s pumping schedule from 6-7 times/day to 8 times/day (coinciding with baby’s feeds) and adding three breastfeedings a day and eating almost an entire batch of chocolate no-bake oatmeal [...]

Three Weeks

Big news first:  One Chloe monster is currently sleeping in my dining room (in her pack & play) after a good nursing session.  I brought her home this afternoon, after she passed her car seat test yesterday, and had successfully taken in 150 ccs per 12 hours of milk or similar off-white substance (Neosure.)  I’m [...]

Two Weeks

I can’t believe they’re two weeks old already!  Today was another sunny, perfect fall day, a lot like the day that they were born.  Not that I was allowed out on their birthday, but I do recall looking out the window.
Emma’s doing beautifully.  She’s up to 3 lbs 13 oz now, and is learning to [...]

Ten Days

Chloe has been in an open crib for 48 hours now, and as of last night was tolerating it really well (as long as she’s wrapped up in a onesie, sleeper, two swaddling blankets and a thick blanket on top.)  She looks like a little burrito.  She also has her IV out now, so can [...]

One Week Old!

Babies are doing great. No more TPN or lipids in their IVs, and they continue to decrease their IV fluids as they take more and more in their tubes. I’m changing diapers, taking temperatures and holding for feeds now, which is just wonderful. And, as you can see in the pics, we now have fashion [...]

Babies Are Here!

So I was bored on Saturday, and decided to have some babies to spice things up!  OK, not really.
At my OB appointment on Wednesday my BP was going up just a little, so we did a 24 hr urine for protein.  OB’s office called me Friday afternoon and I had a fair amount of protein [...]

Miscellany

1) Found going-home outfits at BRU on Saturday (just little Carter’s one-pieces, and actually had one already, but found a coordinating one *and* coordinating hats, which were on clearance.)  Will edit in some pictures tomorrow.  Suffice to say, they’re cute.
2) Up at 4 a.m. today contracting and uncomfy and debating about going to L&D, but [...]
