Damn I’m tired.
I worked 31 hours this weekend, and I’m wiped out. Yesterday was a 14 hr day, the last five of which were due to a colleague’s acute appendicitis, and the need for someone to cover his shift. Not a problem, and happy to do it (and very happy that said colleague is now fine post-op) [...]

The Pergo in the breakfast room is done!!! That means that my entire downstairs is finished!!! All that’s left is some work (and furniture) in the nursery and some work on the guest room (wallpaper removal, painting.) Woo hoo!

a.k.a. Why There Are No House Pictures Yet. I’ve heard the requests for pictures. Really I have. Unfortunately, the completely unbridled OCD aspect of my personality prevents me from posting house pictures until each room is absolutely done. Not every room, but if I post living room pictures, I want them to be of the [...]
The Long-Heralded Arrival of the Michigan Wood

The moment you’ve all been waiting for has arrived! The countertops are in! The 20 total linear feet of rock maple butcher block countertop, delivered direct from Michigan on the backs of yaks, was ordered over 2 months ago. It arrived a few days ago, and has been installed today by yours truly and her [...]

Wow – I haven’t posted in for freaking ever!
The short recap:
Finished painting, moved into house on March 12, began tedious & still ongoing unpacking process, panelled the walls in the office with white beadboard (tedious, but beautiful, and offered an opportunity to play with power tools), trimmed said walls with white trim (see above, but [...]

Well, I had an entire (very long) post written this morning, and of course the evil empire’s (Microsoft) software led to its demise. Let’s try again, shall we?
I closed on the house on February 25th, uneventfully, and got possession on March 1st. Unfortunately, the house’s locks were apparently designed by evil gnomes, and keys that [...]
House Update

Well, for everyone who’s been on the edge of their proverbial seats waiting for the news, it’s good! The inspection showed only a few little problems, nothing major. No termites. Roof in good shape. Survey shows the house & garage to be inside the property lines (good thing, too – can you imagine the neighbor [...]
The Happy Homeowner

That’s right, sports fans, I bought a house! I signed the contract on Friday the 28th, and closing is the last week of February! I have some painting to do, as the interior walls are painted in such darling shades as baby-poop-mustard and venous-blood-burgundy, but that’s just cosmetic stuff. All in all, it’s a cute [...]
It’s Colder than a Welldigger’s…

So it’s 23 degrees outside and the wind is blowing a gale (has knocked down my Dala horse hanging sign twice today – finally gave up and brought the danged thing inside).
H and I, of course, decided that this would be a fine day for going outdoors for shopping & lunch. This was a great [...]
