1) As of yesterday, Chloe is a verbal beast. “Mama” in context, correctly applied. Swoon.
2) I win the mother of the year award, after both babies sustained significant bonks to the noggin within 10 seconds of each other tonight. Chloe crawled off the seat of the recliner as I was bringing Emma [...]

Our First Year

The party was an absolute success, with monkey smash cakes and the requisite amount of crepe paper and helium balloons, and a small group of pleasant friends and family. The babies received many sweet gifts, and were thrilled with their wagon (from Grandma and Grandpa) and the ride-on plush giraffe and elephant from Mama.
The last [...]

Pulling to stand for the first time (and swinging back and forth from the wall of Baby Shawshank.)
Using her sippy at the table, rather than just in bed.
Blackberry pie.
(E enjoyed the pie, too, but is still working on the sippy & standing action. She’s not far behind!)

Dear daughters,
Thank you for sleeping late/playing contentedly in your cribs this morning. It was nice to sleep in for the first time in months.
However, Chloe, let’s start a policy of keeping our poopy diapers *on* until Mama can change them, rather than taking them off and fingerpainting on oneself, one’s sheets, mattress, bumper pad, lovey, [...]
Teeth and More

Greetings from the house of teethers. Chloe’s working on all four of her upper incisors (way to multitask) and Emma’s finally close to getting her first tooth (lower incisor.)
They’ve made big developmental leaps in the past few days, first and foremost eating any and everything I put in front of them. I stopped restricting them [...]
Has it really been three weeks since I posted? Criminy. Since then, I’ve spent three days at the farm, fought a nasty case of mastitis (first 102+ temp I’ve had in I don’t know how long) and worked 132 hours in the House of God.
We opened the new ER on the 23rd, leading to an [...]

Watson and Crick had their “6 month” well visit today. At the age of seven months and two weeks, but who’s counting? (Considering they’re gestationally around a week shy of 6 months, I guess it all works out.)
Chloe:
Normal head sono from a few weeks ago. (Good, can go back to joking about her LAARge CRAAAnium in [...]

Project Rice Cereal 2009 was a success!
As expected, Emma’s thrilled with the new eats (including stealing the spoon and putting it in her mouth when I wasn’t moving quickly enough,) and Chloe’s a bit guarded (the “yuck” faces, oh my.) We’ll see how things go when we get to bananas.

New nicknames: Hivey Rose (Chloe + amoxicillin = rash central), Tenacious E (who knew that she would/could fuss for so long at the absolute horror of being trapped in her carseat?) and the Toothful One (Chloe, first tooth yesterday – right lower incisor.)
Scariest Bunny Ever

Actually, Emma loved him (big drooly grins, a rarity for her except when watching Mama do some kind of antics and/or in close proximity to the nursies) and Chloe warmed up after a bit. I was a little nervous, frankly, and would have wigged out at the creepy mask entirely if I hadn’t seen a [...]
