Wiped Out

You know you’re tired when: You try to put your child’s pacifier in her ear in the middle of the night.  Oops.  Sorry, baby.  In my defense, I was doing this by touch rather than turning on the light, so…
In other news, it’s snowing, we all survived the familial onslaught for Thanksgiving without damage, and we’re [...]

Full Term

My little turkeys were due today.  They’re starting to wake up, and act more like typical newborns rather than sleepy preemies.  This has its pluses (tummy time cuteness while reading Mister Dog) and minuses (more crabby spells, especially from C.)  They’re 6 lbs 3 oz (Chloe) and 6 lbs even (Emma) as of yesterday.
Lots of [...]

Stats

At our “one month” ped visit two days ago:
Chloe is 6 lbs even, and 19 inches long, with a 14 1/4 inch head.  Emma is 5 lbs 12 oz, 18 1/4 inches, and with a 14 inch head.  They’re nowhere near the weight or height chart for one-month-olds (and are in the 10th % corrected for [...]

Nursery

Just a few photos of the nursery now that it’s finished (and you can see C & E’s real names on the wall for those interested in that – C’s name does in fact have an E on the end, it’s just hard to see.) There are two cribs, on opposite walls, with the windows [...]

0400 Musings

1) Pretty sure that Pepperidge Farm is spiking their cinnamon raisin bread with heroin. May require 12 step program and/or methadone.
2) Hate to say it, but Neel Kashkari is kinda hot.
3) Damn, I need more sleep.

Update from the Monkey House

At this moment, I just finished changing, bathing, dressing, medicating and feeding x 2 (and my do I love my EZ 2 Nurse pillow, despite the cheeseball name) in the space of about an hour and a half. Both of my cheeky monkeys are sleeping (or feigning it) and I’m settled with the pump [...]

Request

To the inventors of the world:
Please work on a self-replacing binky. I’m begging here. Also, if you could fit me with an extra arm or two, I’d be prepared to pay handsomely.
Sincerely,
One Tired Mama

Home

After 38 days in the NICU (but who’s counting) and at the tender age of 38 weeks, Emma is home.  The Prilosec started working over the weekend, and she went up to full feeds without much trouble, and now is home, sleeping next to her sister.  I’m elated.  Tired already (Chloe had an early appointment today [...]

Coping Strategies

Emma’s still in the NICU.  They’re talking about another several days to a week.  Same ol’ not-eating crap, different day.  Prilosec’s maybe working a little.  Hard to say.  The next option is putting her on 100% formula.  I can’t even talk about her still being up there without wanting to cry, so we’ll talk about other things.
Some [...]

Election Thoughts

Top five positive thoughts on last night, in a nutshell:
1)  My congresswoman (who has a record of doing very little constructive, and likes to walk out on important meetings, and is generally a twit) was defeated by another woman who is a friend of the family and who I like very much, and who will be a great [...]
